Rose Tree Media Eyes New Site for Long-Needed Elementary School🏫

Looks like the Rose Tree Media School District is ready to move on from its long-stalled plan for a new elementary school on Route 352. After getting tied up in legal issues with Edgmont Township, they're now eyeing a location near Penncrest High School. Locals seem divided—some are frustrated by the delays, while others support the district’s transparency and push for more space, including the idea of a full-day kindergarten. Havertown’s Paper Route Queen: 45 Years Strong 📰 

In a world where paperboys are fading, Nancy Saul keeps the tradition alive in Havertown. For 45 years, she’s led a team of kids and teens delivering The News & Press of Delaware County—teaching them life skills like time management, money handling, and social skills. While their customer base has dwindled from 6,000 to just 480, Saul remains dedicated. As one former carrier-turned-detective said, the job prepared him for life. As long as the papers keep printing, Saul's crew will be out there.

Giant Spiders Are “Flying” Into PA and Honestly, That’s Terrifying 🕷️

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, giant venomous spiders are parachuting into eastern Pennsylvania. Meet the Joro spider: originally from East Asia, these colorful arachnids can grow up to 8 inches long and, yes, they use wind currents to fly. Spotted recently in Bucks County, their size is enough to send chills down any arachnophobe's spine. Good news? They're harmless to humans—unless seeing one sends you running. Bad news? Their webs will be everywhere come October. Happy fall, Delco!

Franklin Fountain Celebrates 20 Sweet Years with Scoops, Contests, and Vintage Fun 🍦

The Berley brothers, Ryan and Eric, are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their old-fashioned ice cream shop, The Franklin Fountain, on Sept. 28 in Old City. Known for its vintage vibes and handcrafted treats, the shop will host daylong festivities, including a banana-split-eating contest, live music, and even tours of their candy shop, Shane Confectionery. The brothers, raised in Delco, have created a beloved spot that's all about bringing the past to life—one scoop at a time
