Delco Alum Jen D'Angelo Wins Emmy for Quiz Lady Masterpiece 🏆

Delco’s Got Talent! Episcopal Academy alum Jen D’Angelo (Class of '06) just scored an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie for Quiz Lady, which she wrote and produced. The comedy stars Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, and Will Ferrell in a hilarious Jeopardy!-style adventure, available on Hulu.

This marks D'Angelo's first Emmy win, adding another trophy to EA’s growing Hollywood collection—remember when Jennifer Lame (Class of '00) won an Oscar for Oppenheimer?

With credits like Hocus Pocus 2 and Young Rock, D'Angelo’s star is rising fast. Keep an eye out for what’s next!

Delco Artists Shine in Art of the State 2024, Taking Home Top Honors 🎨

Delco’s finest just scored big in the Art of the State 2024 exhibition! Drexel Hill’s Phil Cifone snagged first place in Photography/Digital Media with his stunning shot, "Schuylkill River Flooding, 2021," taking home a cool $500.

Over in the Sculpture category, Media’s own Zhanna Martin earned third place and $200 for her ceramic piece, "Just Adopted."

The exhibition, hosted by The State Museum of PA, showcases top-tier talent from across the state. With over 2,200 entries, these two Delco artists rose to the top.

The Latest High School Rankings Are In, and Radnor Makes the List 🎓

U.S. News & World Report just released its 2024 high school rankings, and Radnor High School continues to stand out among Pennsylvania’s top public high schools, securing the No. 6 spot in the state. While several schools from the Main Line region made the list, Radnor’s performance is especially noteworthy for Delaware County. See the full list here.

Casey’s Bids Farewell After 30 Years, Welcomes New Chapter 🍻

A local staple, and go to spot for those Wednesday nights before Thanksgiving (IYKYK), Casey's in Drexel Hill has officially closed its doors—well, sort of. After three decades as a community favorite, the Melvin family is passing the torch to new ownership. As of today, the beloved local spot will reopen under new management, with the Melvins expressing heartfelt thanks to their loyal customers. While the familiar faces behind the counter may change, you can still catch the Melvin family stopping by—as customers this time! Here's to a new era for Casey’s, and cheers to the last 30 years!

PennDOT wants your feedback, Delco! They’re hosting two open house events to discuss the upcoming I-95 improvement projects, including the I-95/U.S. 322 interchange, Chester noise walls, and more. You’ll get to check out the plans, chat with the design team, and provide your two cents.

Roadwork and Lane Closures This Week 🚧

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Today, the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association will hold a Patriot Day observance ceremony to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The ceremony features local musician Martin Holahan playing Taps at each of the four significant moments when the planes crashed. It concludes with remarks from Joseph Daly, DCVMA’s board president, followed by a moment of silence and a wreath-laying in remembrance. Join us today in paying tribute to the heroes and victims of that tragic day.
