THE BIG STORY

Hey Delco! The Olympics are just around the corner, but Delco has already secured some gold.
Back in June, Main Line Today gave out their “Best of the Main Line” honors and…DELCO DOMINATED. From unbeatable eateries to standout services, these winners prove Delaware County delivers the best of the best.
Here are a few popular winners:
Best Pizza: Picas
Best Burger: Brick and Brew

Best New Brewery: Artillery Brewing
Curious about who else topped the charts? We put together a list of Delco winners on our site. There are close to 50 total winners! See which of your favorite spots made the cut.
Congrats to all the winners!
The official awards party is on Thursday, July 25. For the full list of winners and to purchase tickets to the event, head over to Main Line Today.
THE DIGEST
Fly Eagles Fly: Training Camp Kicks Off This Week!
It's that time of year again—Eagles training camp is back in action! Get ready to don your green and support our Birds as they gear up for a season that (hopefully) ends a lot better than last season. Here's the scoop on this week's practice schedule, courtesy of Eliot Shorr-Parks:
Wednesday: Practice at 10 AM
Thursday: Practice at 10 AM
Friday: Walkthrough
Saturday: Practice at 10 AM
What to Watch For:
The Best Offense (On Paper): With Kellen Moore as the OC, and the addition of Saquan Barkley, the Eagles no doubt have one of the best offenses in the league. But can they live up to expectations and deliver? Will we see this team dominate like 2 years ago?
Rookies, New Faces, New Positions. While the expectations are sky-high for the upcoming season, there are still plenty of questions and unknowns. How quickly will the new offensive and defensive coordinators get the team in sync? With Jason Kelce out and Cam Jurgens stepping in, how will the offensive line fare? And what kind of impact will Saquon Barkley have on an offense that struggled last year? Will the rookies, especially on defense, step up and make an immediate impact?
Defensive Breakout Under Fangio?: Keep an eye on the Eagles' defense this season with Vic Fangio stepping in as the new coordinator. Fangio’s known for his strategic prowess and should bring a fresh, aggressive approach. High draft pick rookies are expected to make a splash, and the pressure is on for second-year players to step up and fill big roles. This mix of new talent and Fangio's experienced leadership could make for an exciting and dynamic defensive unit.
It should be an exciting year. Go Birds! 🦅
⚠️ Injury Alert ⚠️
Well, we wrote all of the above before this alert came across our phone about an early Eagles injury.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Eagles rookie, Cooper DeJean suffered a hamstring injury when he was "caught in an awkward position during offseason training." According to Fowler, the Eagles are confident DeJean will have a "quick recovery" and he will contribute in the 2024 season.
Damnit.
Haverford Skatium Reopens After Renovations
The Haverford Skatium is back in action after closing in May for extensive renovations, including a new chiller system and fresh ice lines. The premier ice skating and hockey venue in Delaware County reopened Sunday, offering a great way for skaters to enjoy the upgraded facilities. For schedules, clinics, leagues, rentals, and more, check out their website.

Clifton Heights Big Lots to Close
Heads up, Delco shoppers! Big Lots is shutting down its Clifton Heights store after reporting a jaw-dropping $205 million loss in the first quarter. Sheesh. This move is part of the company's efforts to “streamline operations” This just sounds like corporate-speak for, “We are screwed. Just go shop at Amazon.” But if you are a bargain shopper, keep an eye out for clearance deals as they prepare to shut down. You can likely grab some products at fire-sale prices. Stay tuned for more details on the closing timeline and potential last-minute bargains. Read the full story here.

Matvei Michkov has arrived (and rocking a Phillies hat). This is like page 1 in the “How To Win Over Philly Fans” playbook. As a reminder, Michkov was in Russia for a few years before coming to the U.S. due to his contract with the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Despite being drafted 7th overall by the Flyers in 2023, he had to fulfill his obligations with the KHL before making the move. His arrival in Philly is highly anticipated, with expectations that he’ll bring superstar talent and significantly bolster the team’s lineup. Here are 39 things you need to know about Matvei Michkov.
