Philly's New Arena Could Score a WNBA Team Too 🏀

Big moves are happening in Philly! Alongside the Sixers' controversial plan to relocate to a new $1.3 billion arena in Center City, Mayor Cherelle Parker is pushing to bring a WNBA team to the city. At a town hall this week, Parker fired up the crowd by confirming that both the city and the Sixers are actively working to make Philly home to a WNBA franchise. Philly is the largest U.S. city without a WNBA team—time to fix that, right? The new arena, set to open by 2031, is designed to inject new life (and jobs) into Market Street, though critics remain concerned about its impact on Chinatown. The arena deal still needs city council approval, but the Sixers are committed to footing the bill—no taxpayer dollars involved

Delco Horror Haven Invasion: Spooky Season Kicks Off with Frights and Films in Media 😱

Just in time for spooky season, the Delco Horror Haven Invasion is about to take over Media this weekend. This two-day fright fest, born from the ashes of Media Fright Fest, kicks off Saturday, September 28, with 30 vendors, horror celebs like Terrifier 2 producer Steve Barton, a DIY craft corner, and even a creepy ice cream flavor! Sunday brings over 30 indie horror shorts at Media’s Towne House, with titles like The Boog and You Should Smile More. Tickets are cheap, cosplay is encouraged, and it’s all part of Delco Arts Week.

New Shopping Center Set to Hit Glen Mills Area 🛍️

The long-vacant 25.5-acre lot at Route 202 and Ridge Road in the Glen Mills area is about to get a major facelift. New Jersey-based Retail Sites is planning a new development called the Shoppes at Concord ($$), a $50-$70 million shopping center that’ll feature sit-down restaurants, fast-food joints, fashion retailers, grocers, and even some national fitness brands. Retail Sites already owns other local centers like Shoppes at Brookhaven and Upper Providence, so expect a well-curated tenant mix to match the high-income area. Plus, a $4 million road improvement project is in the works to make getting there even smoother.
