THE DIGEST
Delco's Own Joe Holden Nabs an Emmy Nomination—and We’ve Got Just the Shirt for His Big Night!
Congratulations to Joe Holden, CBS Philadelphia reporter and proud Upper Darby native, who just scored a regional Emmy nomination for his stellar work covering the Danelo Cavalcante manhunt and exposing the unfair funding in some Pennsylvania school districts.
I actually had the chance to meet Joe a few years back at the St. Laurence Hall of Fame ceremony at Drexelbrook, and I can tell you—he’s as genuine as they come.
His matter-of-fact reporting style and commitment to accuracy make Delco proud!
Now, about that Emmy night… Joe, we’ve got the perfect wardrobe suggestion:
Because what better way to show off some Delco pride on the red carpet?
Btw, you don’t have to be nominated for an Emmy to get this shirt. The “Just a kid from Delco” shirt is now officially for sale in our shop.
All kidding aside, Joe, thank you for always proudly representing our area with your outstanding investigative reporting.
We hope you bring home the Emmy, you deserve it!
Episcopal Academy’s Nick Mead Secures Rowing Gold
In Monday's edition of the Hey Delco newsletter, we highlighted all of the amazing local athletes competing in the Olympics.
One of those Delco athletes just won gold!
Congrats to Nick Mead, Episcopal Academy graduate, and the US Men's Rowing team for securing Gold in the 4-man event.
To highlight what an amazing accomplishment this is (besides winning gold of course), this is the first U.S. rowing gold medal in 64 years, and the first men's rowing Olympic title of any kind since 2004.
Up Next: Allie Wilson, Strath Haven grad, is competing in the 800 meters at 1:45 PM on August 2. Instead of sitting at home, you can cheer her on at the watch party at Strath Haven Middle School. Gates open at 1 PM.
